چکیده
The uptake of tartrazine from its aqueous solution by powdered activated carbon prepared cola nut shells chemically with potassium hydroxide (ACK) and phosphoric acid (ACP) has been investigated using kinetics models. Batch isotherm data were analysed the pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order model as well intraparticle diffusion model. For structural elucidation, materials characterized FTIR, XRD SEM. These analyses revealed that carbons (ACK ACP) predominantly mesoporous several oxygen-containing functional groups dispersed on their surface. reaction was systematically under various experimental conditions such contact time, adsorbent dose pH. two adsorbents, quantity adsorbed 19.256 mg/g 18.196 respectively for ACP ACK at respective times 5 10 min obtained. adsorption tested Langmuir, Freundlich Langmuir found to best describe tartrate ions maximum monolayer capacities 24.57 21.59 ACK, respectively. Results analysis indicated clearly kinetic rate fitted therefore controlling mechanism both adsorbents. Thermodynamic studies process spontaneous exothermic increased randomness solid interface, then but non-spontaneous ACK. results show these could be an alternative more costly adsorbents purpose elimination.

Adsorption of Phenolic Compounds onto the Activated Carbon Synthesized from Pulp and Paper Mill Sludge: Equilibrium Isotherm, Kinetics, Thermodynamics and Mechanism Studies
A new activated carbon was produced from pulp and paper mill sludge as a low cost precursor via chemical activation by zinc chloride. The activated carbon was successfully used for the adsorption of phenol and two of its derivatives, i.e. 2-chlorophenol and 4-nitrophenol from aqueous solutions. The characterization of the prepared activated carbon demonstrated high textural properties for the s...
متن کاملKinetics, equilibrium, and thermodynamics investigation on the adsorption of lead(II) by coal-based activated carbon
The goal of this research is to investigate the feasibility of using activated coal-based activated carbon (CBAC) to adsorb Pb(II) from aqueous solutions through batch tests. Effects of contact time, pH, temperature and initial Pb(II) concentration on the Pb(II) adsorption were examined. The Pb(II) adsorption is strongly dependent on pH, but insensitive to temperature. The best pH for Pb(II) re...

In this work, a low-cost activated carbon as well as non-hazardous material, with high adsorption capacity, was prepared from Melia azedarach fruit (MF) by ZnCl2 activation for the removal of Pb(II) toxic metal from aqueous solutions. The microstructure of the activated carbon was observed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Batch experiments have been performed as a function of pH, contact ...
متن کاملStatistical physics modeling of equilibrium adsorption of cadmium ions onto activated carbon, chitosan and chitosan/activated carbon composite
The adsorption ability of activated carbon, chitosan, and chitosan/activated carbon composite for cadmium separation from aqueous solution was analyzed via statistical physical modeling. The equilibrium data were analyzed by Langmuir, Hill, double layer model, and the multi-layer model with saturation isotherm models. Results showed that the multi-layer model with saturation could well describe...
متن کاملAdsorption Equilibrium and Kinetics of Lead Ion onto Synthetic Ferrihydrites
Batch experiments were conducted to study the adsorption behaviors of lead ion (Pb2+) onto ferrihydrites prepared using three different procedures which were characterized by textural analysis (BET). The adsorption removal of Pb2+ by the three ferrihydrites (called FH-1, FH-2 and FH-3, respectively) were compared, and FH-3 shows fast adsorption kinetics as well as hig...
